Responsibilities:

• To lead domestic and international materials development and sourcing for Trims and ensure calendar deadlines and brief requirements are met
• Strive to develop innovative materials with a lower impact and higher longevity through continuous questioning, evaluation, and testing of new materials
• Test and evaluate materials using the custom and industry-standard lab testing of the brand
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of raw materials industry trends, building trim expertise and a network of contacts within the industry
• Ensure the Product Line Management system (Centric) stays current and accurate with progress updates
• Assist in the supply planning of trims when required and provide materials expertise and recommendations to help monitor, evaluate and resolve materials issues in bulk production

Requirements:

• Degree / Diploma in Materials Science, Textile Technology, Product or Textile Design
• Min. 5 years of apparel/equipment industry experience related to trims and/or materials
• Good knowledge of the design and development process from inception through to final adoption with extensive knowledge of materials and construction
• Possessing a thorough understanding of trims and textile manufacturing such as dying, finishing, printing, molding, etc. with experience in materials laboratory testing
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks within tight deadlines
• Having the physical ability to handle small boxes and rolls of fabric, etc. and able to remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office and PLM systems with strong verbal & written communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams/culture
