金管局總裁余偉文昨出席一個高峰會時指，外圍環境仍非常具挑戰，本港出口受環球經濟增長放慢影響，但今年首季經濟按年增長2.7%，受惠旅客訪港帶動零售銷售及投資增長，反彈勢頭強勁，料今年經濟增長會處於政府預測3.5%至5.5%的較高區間。
歐美近月爆發銀行危機，余稱，本港銀行監管極嚴謹，相信有關危機不會在港出現，但指本港銀行存款保障的50萬元限額多年未變，研究提升保障上限，擬下半年諮詢市場。他重申，聯繫滙率推行40年來經歷多次挑戰，但信心未被侵蝕，故無意亦無理由改變。
